INTRODUCTION:

28,000 sales in the first six months after the launch speaks volumes of the love shown by the Indian buyers towards the Tata Nexon. The AMT variant is an honest attempt to further cement their position in the ever so competitive compact SUV segment.

This will be the first time in India that any compact SUV gets an automated variant for both the Petrol and Diesel Version. The visual appeal also gets smaller additions with newer colour combinations.

There is no denying the fact the Tata Nexon is as unconventional SUV as it gets but still, it is one of the most appealing and eye-catching SUV available today.

The Tata Nexon SUV AMT exteriors pretty much remain the same apart from the XZA+ badge at the rear.

Also, the new Compact SUV now gets a new Etna Orange colour combination with a Sonic Silver roof which further makes the vibrant SUV standout from the crowd. But this combination is only available for the top end XZA+ version.

The compact SUV comes with projector headlamps and LED DRLs and 16-inch alloy wheels, same as the older 2017 variant.

The interiors of the Tata Nexon AMT remains the same and thus continue to provide premium ambience feel. Despite being a compact SUV, the car provides ample leg and knee room for even the taller riders, thus longer rides won’t feel that long now.

The XZA+ gets the same 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system which connects Android Autoplay but surprisingly doesn’t support Apple CarPlay.

The only noticeable change in the newer variant as compared to the older one is that the traditional gear lever is now replaced with an AMT unit. This gives you the option to choose between the manual and automatic transmission.

Alongside you also get a wearable Smart Key which supports Keyless entry.

Tata Nexon AMT is further loaded with various other features like Multi-functional Steering wheel, automatic Climate control, rear air con unit.

Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD and Hill-assist.

The Diesel version of Tata Nexon AMT is powered with a 1.5-litre engine which generates a power of 110 bhp and peak torque of 260 Nm.The Diesel AMT is Super smooth as far as the ride quality is concerned.

The 1.2 litre 3-cylinder Petrol engine generates power of 110 bhp and peak torque of 170 Nm. Both engines are mated with all new 6-speed AMT.

The New Nexon AMT also comes equipped with City, Eco and Sport Mode. It is further helped by Hill assist feature.

The most important new feature of the AMT version is the convenience the SUV provides, especially in the crowded areas. It indeed is a feel-good factor.

FINAL VERDICT:

Tata Nexon AMT will lock horns with Maruti Suzuki Vitara, Ford Ecosport and Mahindra TUV300. Maruti Suzuki Vitara is yet to offer any automatic variant, while Ecosport provides automatic option only for Petrol variant. Thus Nexon AMT edges the near rivals and can be a deciding factor in Urban areas.

Tata Nexon AMT will cost around Rs.50,000 more than the older Nexon XZ variant. This is definitely not a huge amount for the convenience the AMT variant gives to the hectic traffic congested rides.

The Tata Nexon AMT is available at a price of Rs.9.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for Petrol Variant and Rs.10.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for Diesel Variant.

With an incredibly competitive SUV segment in India and people getting really serious about the compact SUV segment, Tata Motors has a real deal for the buyers, the Tata Nexon AMT.
