3rd Generation Maruti Suzuki Swift 2018 to be released at the Auto Expo event Scheduled in February 2018.
Let’s get a detailed review of the beloved Maruti Suzuki Swift 2018.
Maruti Suzuki has a big thank you to say to its own creation Swift for the Success it enjoyed in India ever since its launch in 2005. It greatly helped Maruti Suzuki mount its footholds in the hatchback sector and there is looking back after that. So let us evaluate the different parameters of the third generation Maruti Suzuki Swift 2018.
The changes from the 1st generation to 2nd generation weren’t all that evolutionary but the changes Maruti Suzuki has made to the 3rd generation Swift are a big leap.
Having said that it does have that glimpses of the all so familiar old Swift.
The 2018 Swift is available in six colours viz., Lucent Orange, Midnight Blue, Fire Red, Arctic White, Sand Magma Grey and Silky Silver.
The all-black interiors used in the new Swift justifies the Sporty nature and looks appealing. The automaker has done a good work with the seats, and they do provide a high level of comfort.
The instrument cluster consists of a twin-hooded cluster consisting of tachometer and speedometer. It also has a multi-information display between the two.
Other features include auto headlamps, rear-view camera, keyless entry, voice commands and auto climate control.
The hatchback contains a familiar 7-inch integrated SmartPlay infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple Car-Play.
When we talk about the design, the next-gen Swift retains the shapes and proportions of the earlier variant. An important highlight of the design is the large hexagonal grille seen earlier in Swift dzire.
The headlamps also get a change and are now replaced by projector headlamps and sturdy daytime running LEDs.
At the rear, the tail lamps get a boxy look pretty similar to Baleno. Like the headlamps, tail lamps also have LEDs and looks very Sharp.
The length of the new Swift is 3840 mm, 1735 mm wide and has a height of 1530 mm.
Maruti Suzuki Swift 2018 is built on 5th generation hearttect platform, which is not only stronger due to its use of high tensile Steel but also is lighter. To justify this statement the numbers say that the petrol version is 85 kgs and the diesel version around 75 kgs lighter.
Thus the fuel efficiency has significantly improved by around 10% in both versions and can be a deciding factor provided the competitive sector of the hatchback in India.
The new Swift delivers around 22 kmpl for petrol variant and around 28.5 kmpl for the diesel variant.
New Swift has dual airbags. Alongside the hatchback also feature Anti-lock braking system (ABS) with brake assist.
Thus as far as safety is concerned it does fairly enough to compete with the rivals
ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS AND PERFORMANCE:
Maruti Suzuki Swift 2018 uses a 1.2-litre engine and 1.3-litre Multi-jet Diesel engine which is mostly used in Maruti Suzuki’s current range cars.
The Petrol variant generates power of 84 hp and 115 Nm of torque and the Diesel variant generates power of 75 hp while 190 Nm of torque.
Provided the fierce competition in the segment, the 2018 Swift is priced very competitively.
The petrol variant is priced in the range from Rs.4.41 lakh to 6.38 lakh. The diesel variant is priced from Rs.5.99 lakh to 7.48 lakh.
It has a tough competition from the likes of Hyundai i10 priced from Rs. 4.60 to 7.35 lakh, Ford Figo having pretty much the same price range, and some-what a higher-end competitor Volkswagen Polo priced from Rs.5.40 lakh to 9.30 lakh.
The 2018 Swift will launch at a much-awaited event of Auto Expo in February. With the history and the brand image Swift has, it isn’t any rocket science to tell you that the 2018 Swift will shake up the Segment and make rivals feel the heat.
With the 3rd generation, Maruti Suzuki Swift 2018 takes a step further into being the car it was always envisioned to be.
At least looks that way.
