Introduction:

MPV segment much dominated by the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta has a new rival, Mahindra has launched the all new Mahindra Marazzo in India.

It is a whole new start for Mahindra & Mahindra, which is absolutely leaving no stone unturned to grab a significant slice to its portion in the MPV segment, which has been on a boom in recent times.

Does the all-new Marazzo have the jaws to compete with the heavyweights of its category? Let’s find out.

The design of the 2018 Marazzo is much inspired by the Shark. The front grills give resemblance to the teeth of a shark, while the tail-lamp gives the impression of a shark’s tail and shark-fin.

Having said that the MPV still remains a very proportionate vehicle. In fact, Marazzo is their first car which was not designed and developed in India but in their very own Mahindra North American Technical centre in Michigan.

Thus the Mahindra feel it carried in Design over years is gone, and the refreshed look does not disappoint.

The Mahindra Marazzo gets projector headlamps with DRLs neatly positioned into the fog lamps. The Marazzo uses a hybrid chassis that combines a ladder frame and a monocoque, which is first of its kind in the country.

The Marazzo uses a double wishbone suspension up front and a twist beam suspension at the rear which is mounted to the ladder frame for optimal wheel location.

The MPV comes with two USB ports and a 12V socket for the driver and front passenger, while rear occupants get a common USB port for charging.

Engine & Performance:

Mahindra Marazzo comes with an all-new 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. The MPV produces a power of 122 bhp and a peak torque of 300 Nm mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Mahindra Marazzo hits a top speed of around 140 kmph which is not bad for an MPV.

The petrol variant will be launched in 2020 along with an automatic version.

Mahindra claims a 17.3 kmpl fuel-efficiency for the 2018 Marazzo, which is impressive, to say the least.

In terms of safety, the new Mahindra Marazzo gets dual-front airbags, disc brakes on all 4 wheels, impact sensitive door locks and ABS. The top of the line M6 and M8 variants also gets rear parking camera, emergency call feature and cornering lamps.

Final Verdict:

There is no doubt that the Mahindra Marazzo 2018 is a thoroughly engineered product that sets new standards for refinement in the MPV segment.

Marazzo M2 variant has been priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom India), while the fully-loaded M8 top variant is priced at Rs 13.90 lakh (ex-showroom India).

2018 Marazzo is very cleverly priced between its primary rivals the Ertiga and the Innova Crysta, thus will provoke the buyers from either side. All in all, Marazzo is a sophisticated package, where Mahindra seems to have ticked all the boxes.
