Ather Energy has launched Smart E-Scooters named Ather 340 and Ather 450 in India. Priced at Rs. 1.09 and Rs. 1.24 lakh respectively.
Ather Energy, a Startup started by two IITians back in 2013 hopes to change the perception of the Indians regarding the electric scooters. Ather 340 and Ather 450 are their e-scooters duo and by no means are behind any stylish scooter available today.
Both Ather 340 and Ather 450 look exactly the same to each other, just the latter being more powerful than the former counterpart. Ather 340 is priced at Rs. 1,09,750 and Ather 450 at Rs. 1,24,750.
Both Ather 340 and Ather 450 are the most feature-rich e-scooters available in the country. The highly futuristic looking scooter comes with a sharp and a sleek design.
The Scooter has all LED headlamps. The seat hinge and the green highlight work makes the e-scooter ever so appealing.
The battery is so perfectly placed on the floorboard that one can hardly notice that it is a battery-packed scooter. Ground clearance is 160 mm which is quite decent.
Underseat storage is more than big and it can easily accommodate a full face helmet in it.
The rear side looks absolutely stunning and a lot of credit goes to ever so beautiful stop light and indicators.
The scooters from Ather Energy consists of a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen display. The display consists of loads of features like adaptive LED headlights, GPS, Charging Station tracking and battery percentage indicator.
Other important features include parking assists, combined braking system and self-cancelling indicators.
Ather 340 is powered by a 4.4 kW motor with a peak torque of 20 Nm. Ather 450 is powered by a 5.4 kW motor generating 20.5 Nm of peak torque. The peak Torque generated is even comparable to the likes of Duke 200 and Pulsar 220 which generates around 19 to 20 Nm of torque. Isn’t that Surprising?
The e-scooter duo from Ether is powered by lithium-ion batteries. Ather 450 accelerates from 0 to 40 kmph in just 3.9 sec. The top speed of the Ather 450 is in excess of 90 kmph and the scooter weighs around 118 kgs.
The Ather Scooters comes with a 12-inch alloy wheel with MRF tyres on it. The scooter has a telescopic suspension up front and a monoshock suspension at the rear.
Another interesting feature of the e-scooters duo is that they are equipped with a reverse mode, making it first in India with the feature.
Ather e-scooter runs around 60 km in a single charge. The company claims that 0-80 % can be charged within an hour.
Ather 340 and Ather 450 comes with a warranty of 2 years or 30,000 km.
Ather Energy is backed by companies like Hero Moto Corp and Flipkart, thus they dream real big and look to revolutionize the electric vehicles future in India.
They are also concerned about improving the infrastructure for electric vehicles and plan to build around 6500 charging stations in Major cities by 2022.
Ather 450 is priced at 1.25 lakh, which might sound a bit too much for a scooter. But it is a one-time investment and you hardly pay for its day-to-day usage, unlike conventional scooters which run on petrol.
The highly futuristic and unique in its own kind Ather e-scooter is definitely the new way forward.
The new environment-friendly e-scooters will look to create an aura of its own in India, and a big credit goes to India’s very own start-up Ather Energy.
